I interviewed online personality The Bunny Barbie about her career, what inspires her, and her latest venture, a self produced reality TV Show; Legally Bunny.

Tell me a bit about yourself.

I started social media about a year and a half ago and have built an audience of 1.6 million followers on TikTok alone. I never sought out to gain a following on social media but I always knew I wanted to produce my own TV show.

When did you first realise you wanted to be a producer?

I was in a really bad deal with a  large network and large production company. That deal made me realize that with how times are changing we don’t need cable or these major corporations to create a successful reality show.

What is your favourite thing about producing a show?

I love being in control of the narrative that is put out about me. You watch all of these other reality shows and people end up having a miserable experience because they feel they were defamed and taken advantage of. I have taken all the power back into my own hands by producing it myself.

When Does Legally Bunny launch?

Tell me a favourite experience in your career. Something that stands out in your memories and makes you want to find more experiences like it.

I love being recognized and being able to connect with my audience in person almost every day. I never imagined that sharing a few videos about myself talking in my closet would turn into a career but also impact so many young women.

What was your toughest experience being online?

It takes a certain personality to be criticized non-stop every day. Sometimes it feels like the entire world hates you when in reality it is a small number of people who are probably miserable in their own lives.

I would not recommend being an influencer for someone who gets hurt easily by the things other people say. I’ve found a way to turn my negative comments into high engagement and make my audience feel I am sticking up to them as well.

Have you family and friends been supportive of your online career?

I would say 90% of my family and friends have been supportive. I lost a few friends at the beginning of my online popularity due to them wanting the same things for themselves, but it never worked out for them. The rest of my friends are so extremely supportive and you’ll be able to see that in my new reality show.

Tell me some career goals. What would you like to achieve?

I feel like I set the bar higher and higher each day. I could see myself producing several TV shows in the future. I have a fashion line launching in less than a month. And I see things continuing in the same direction for me.

Tell me something you were surprised by, something you had never realised about being an online personality.

I really wasn’t expecting to be recognized every time I leave my house. I still forget most of the time that people know who I am; even though I started this during covid and just sitting in my closet and treating TikTok like I was on Facetime with a girlfriend.

I’m not sure I’ll ever get used to people taking pictures of me behind, but I’ve never had one bad encounter with someone; only women who have told me how I have touched their lives.

What are words of advice you have for other online creators?

Be authentic. Just be yourself.

The people who are interested in what you are doing will come because you are being genuinely you. People can read through when you are trying to be someone else.

Give me your social links so people can come and find you!
