I interviewed podcaster Anna Parker-Naples about her new podcast, Podcasting For Entrepreneurs, and her passion for teaching listeners how to achieve success through podcasting.

Tell me a bit about who you are.

I’m Anna Parker-Naples, an ambitious entrepreneur who wants to touch lives and make a difference. I have a multi award winning Hollywood audio background, so becoming a leading podcast expert seemed like a logical next step.

How and why did you start podcasting?

I started podcasting out of a genuine desire to help people understand that they can change their life by changing how they think. I felt that if more people understood that the success they desire is waiting for them if they stop hiding their skills and abilities that we could transform the world.

What is your current podcast called, and how did you come up with the name?

I have two shows currently ‘Podcasting for Entrepreneurs’ and ‘Entrepreneurs Get Visible’. I’m a fan of podcast show names that do what they say on the tin, and I wanted the right kind of listeners to know immediately if my show would solve their problems and be a useful tool to dip into.

What platforms can we find Podcasting For Entrepreneurs on?

All of them! If you want to spread the word about your work, it’s important to make sure your show can be found everyone that someone chooses to listen. As soon as we’re aware of a platform that hasn’t picked the show up, we apply to be included.

What is Podcasting For Entrepreneurs about?

How to stand out from the crowd in a busy industry – both shows help you learn to leverage your audience to drive a profitable business, in terms of your networks, your launches and your products and services.

Do you host Podcasting For Entrepreneurs alone, or have guest hosts/partners?

I host alone although we have high profile entrepreneurial guests on the show too.

Do you edit Podcasting For Entrepreneurs or have someone who does it for you?

I’m CEO of The Podcast Agency, so my excellent team take care of all of the production elements of not just my show, but many other leading podcasters across the world too.

Do you script Podcasting For Entrepreneurs, or just chat as you go?

Scripted podcasts can create a disconnect, so I tend to bullet point out the topics I want to cover and then dive in and talk from my knowledge, heart and soul! This gives people a sense that they are involved in a conversation with me, and makes me more relatable.

How has Podcasting For Entrepreneurs changed or developed since you began?

My very first podcast began almost 5 years ago. I had no idea how to leverage it for my business. Now I am much clearer on the outcomes I want to achieve and how to use the show as a powerful and effective front end of the products and services we offer. The podcasts have become sales machines!

What are you biggest challenges with Podcasting For Entrepreneurs?

Consistency can be challenging, especially when personal issues arise. I combat this by attempting to batch record well in advance. Releasing my podcasts on time, every time, is a cornerstone commitment I make to my listeners.

What are your favourite podcasts to listen to?

I’m a fan of Unstoppable Success by Niyc Pidgeon and Making Money Online by Lisa Johnson. We consulted on and produced both of those no.1 shows, so I love knowing how much we have influenced the content and reach.

How and where do you promote Podcasting For Entrepreneurs?

Everywhere that I can organically. My emails, my social media, by going on other podcasts as a guest. When you realise the influence you can achieve through audio, it’s a no-brainer to make sure your show is seen wherever it can be.

Do you earn money from podcasting, or is it a hobby?

I do, but not in the traditional sponsorship method. I earn through driving and encouraging listeners to come into The Podcast Community FB Group and join my emailing list. That way we can nurture them much more and gain even more trust.

What’s something you never expected about podcasting? What have you learned that surprised you?

I love having conversations with interesting people. Through hosting my own show I have become incredibility well connected and made some amazing friends from the guests I have had on. These often lead to affiliations that serve our listeners. The depth of some of the conversations is one of my favourite parts of my working week.

What is the first piece of advice you would give to anyone inspired to start podcasting?

Don’t wing it! Get advice from someone who knows how to make this work for you. Read my book ‘Podcast with Impact’ or have a listen to Podcasting for Entrepreneurs (www.annapn.co/pga)

And, finally, are your proud of what you’re accomplishing with your podcast? Is it worth the effort?

I am immensely proud of my podcasts. They have given me an audience, credibility, authority, sales, opportunities. They’ve enabled me to sell my books again and again. Most importantly, I receive regular feedback that my podcasts inspire, touch and motivate others to take action. And that holds great meaning for me.
