Beetlejuice
The funny demon in the striped suit: Since the beginning of April, the hero from the Tim Burton cult film “Beetlejuice” has been haunting the audience of the Marquis Theatre again in his eerily weird way. The musical tells the story of Lydia Deetz, a strange and unusual teenager whose home is haunted by a recently deceased couple and a demon named Beetlejuice. When Lydia summons the demon to scare away her parents, a huge spectacle ensues that usually keeps the audience laughing long after the curtain falls.
Hamilton
If you want to learn more about U.S. history during your New York trip, don’t miss the reboot of the musical “Hamilton.” Accompanied by hip-hop and R&B sounds, the production tells the eventful life of Alexander Hamilton, who made it from orphan to the first Secretary of the Treasury of the United States and is considered one of the founding fathers of the USA.
Along the way, he encounters other greats of American history: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Aaron Burr, by whom he met his death in a duel in 1804. Honoured with a Grammy and eleven Tony Awards, Hamilton has been one of Broadway’s all-time hits since 2015.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
Wingardium Leviosa! Based on the new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, the award-winning musical “Harry Potter and The Cursed Child” brings one of the world’s most iconic characters to life on stage.
The formerly two-part epic was rewritten into a three-and-a-half-hour play during the pandemic, without losing its ability to magically captivate its audience. “Just like the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty, this play should be on every New York visitor’s itinerary,” finds People Magazine.
Little Shop of Horrors
The story of nerdy and mild-mannered plant dealer Seymour, his colleague and crush Audrey, her sadistic dentist boyfriend and the world’s most voracious plant has had millions of theatregoers laughing and screaming. Now the cult classic, based on the 1960 black horror comedy, returns to Broadway.
Funny Girl
Premiering after a 58-year hiatus, the highly anticipated bittersweet comedy “Funny Girl” is finally back on Broadway! Featuring some of the most iconic songs in theatre history, the musical follows the career of American actress and singer Fanny Brice as she goes from nobody to one of Broadway’s brightest stars. Determined to make it to the Big Stage despite setbacks, Brice always wanted to play serious roles. Ironically, her comedic side eventually brought her success.
The Little Prince
Based on the popular 1942 book by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, the high-profile new stage show “The Little Prince” tells the story of a young prince who embarks on a wondrous and poetic journey to various planets in outer space. Along the way, he meets different characters and eventually learns to follow his heart. The stunning show, which explores themes of loneliness, friendship, love, and loss, is an unforgettable and moving experience for audiences of all ages.
