Allegra

Hey, my name is Allegra, and I am a 19-year-old singer who was signed at the age of 14. I’ve been developing as an artist ever since and I’ve been lucky enough to learn and work many talented people. I just feel like I’m on a bit of a crazy journey that my 14-year-old self would just dream about.

When did you first WANT to write songs?

I actually constantly find old diary around my house that I wrote all my songs in when I was around 9 years old.

When did you take a step to start writing songs?

I was in my first musical when I was around the age of 9 and I was even was lucky enough to preform at the fire festival in Edinburgh. I stepped into my first studio as I was the main ‘Childs’ voice. It was because of that experience that I wanted to spend more time in the studio writing songs because I always saw behind the sense when the musical was first being created.

What was your first song released, and what was it about?

My first ever single was called ‘All About Us,’ I was 15 when I recorded it. Being that young my team helped me a lot with the process as it was my first release, the first song that people would hear. So it’s a feel good song, like a summer song, which gets people up and dancing… hopefully haha ! But if I’m honest I can’t hear it anymore haha I think I’ve just down a lot from my first single

What was your latest song released, and what was it about?

My latest release was ‘If You Wanna Love Me’. I wanted to create a track which was all about confidence. A track which says, ‘I love myself but if someone wants to gain my attention, they have to work for it’.

Focusing on your latest song. What were your biggest challenges with If You Wanna Love Me?

I think because I released it just before Christmas, there was a bit of a rush as all the Christmas songs obviously come out around then. So I do think

How many songs are you working on right now?

Well I have been writing a lot recently and my next single is coming out in April. But right now there are around 5 unreleased songs which I am very excited about.

Do you keep to a theme with your music, or just go where the mood strikes?

I think it depends what style of music is out there at the time but I always want to release music which is true to me as an artist as that’s hoe I want to connect with my fans.

What is your favourite song you’ve recorded, and what do you love about it?

Well my next single which is about to come out in April is one of my favourites !! I honestly cannot wait !1 I think a lot of people will see a different side to me and how far I’ve come as an artist ! I just want everyone to hear it now ! Its been brewing wayyyy too longgg hah

Do you find other people’s music inspires you? Who do you listen to most?

I constantly create new playlists on Spotify. It’s a way that I find new inspiration and styles which I love ! I have too many playlists and they all have around 200 songs on them. I just love finding new music

Do you write your own music, or do you have musicians you work with?

I love writing my music but I also love working with other people because I think its always important to have other talents in the room working with you because it is always fun to see how other brains work but you always learn. Everyone works differently and it’s always fun to see.

Do you play any instruments?

I grew up playing the violin from the age of 7 and I play the piano by ear.

Do you like performing live, or does it scare you? Where can people watch you?

I love preforming live. Yes it can be nerve-racking but if I wasn’t nervous before a performance that’s not a good sign. Once I’m up there I’m up there

Is your music available online, and where can people listen to it?

Yes !! You can find my music on Spotify under Allegra

Are you able to make music full time, or do you have day job?

I am currently at university in London, so it’s really easy to do my music at the same time but I hope to have it as a full time job some day, even though I don’t see it as a job.

Are your friends and family supportive of your music career?

Oh defiantly !! My friends are the first people who would play my music at a party and tell everyone ! My mum is my biggest supporter ! She always wants me to send my unfinished music and I’ve a bit over protective as I’m a bit of a perfectionist and I know she would show all her friends

What’s something you never expected about being a songwriter? What have you learned that surprised you?

That some days it all flows out and you can write 4 songs in just 5 hours or some days it’s harder and could take 4 hours just to finings pone verse of a song

Do you have any important events coming up we should know about?

I know that there are lots of chats about live performances this year during the summer ! So watch out

What is the first piece of advice you would give to anyone inspired to write songs?

Focus on your own journey and don’t worry what everyone els is doing ! Just write what you believe and feel. Write songs that are the emotions you can’t speak about

And, finally, are your proud of your accomplishment? Was it worth the effort?

I still think there is a lot more that I want to achieve in my musical career ! I feel like this is just the beginning
