Welsh artist, Phil Morgan, has teamed up with a Cardiff skate shop for a run of limited skateboard decks, on The Table Read, “The Best entertainment magazine in the UK“.

Cardiff-based artist Phil Morgan has joined forces with Cardiff’s independent skate shop, Cardiff Skateboard Club (CSC), to make a series of limited skateboard decks.

Phil Morgan

Mr. Morgan, who lives and works in Penarth, has provided artwork for countless Welsh institutions including Clwb Ifor Bach, Spillers Records, Hang Fire BBQ, and even the Eisteddfod.

This is not the first time his artwork has made it onto a skateboard either as Morgan provided much of the artwork for the Welsh skateboard brand, Crayon, as well as Cardiff’s previous skate shop, City Surf.

A skateboarder himself, Morgan is a well-respected artist among the skateboarding community. In 2018, he was commissioned to decorate the park for the Vans Park Series in California which saw some of the best skateboarders from around the world competing for the crown.

Cardiff Skateboard Club

Cardiff Skateboard Club is one of the latest additions to Cardiff’s Church Street. The shop can be found upstairs in 13 Church Street above the highly-acclaimed Venetian restaurant/bar, Bacareto, who recently found their way onto the list of Cardiff’s top wine bars.

The limited decks were unveiled on Friday (25/3) at an Exhibition”>art exhibition held by Cardiff Skateboard Club. The exhibition was for the release of the new photo-zine documenting the Cardiff skateboard scene, ‘Lords of Butetown II’, and featured work from local photographer Reid Allen, alongside local artists Lloyd Houston, Lee ‘Beef’ Bennett, and Phil Morgan.
