On The Table Read, “the best creativity magazine in the UK“, editor JJ Barnes writes about the one year anniversary of launching The Table Read, and her experiences of the last year.

One year ago today I launched The Table Read. The first article I ran was an author interview with the wonderfully talented Anna Mocikat, who kindly offered her time to talk about Behind Blue Eyes.
The Table Read
The plan, initially, was to intermingle writing advice articles, which I had already migrated over from my personal blog, with author interviews. Being an author can be incredibly challenging and lonely. Getting publicity for your work can be expensive, reviews can be negative, and the people in your life can ignore the efforts you’ve made. In creating The Table Read, I wanted the platform to be somewhere positive where writers would be able to share their work to an audience excited to read about it.
As time went on, more creatives approached me, hoping for an opportunity to share their work. I began hosting articles by, and interviewing, artists, podcasters, musicians, filmmakers, and most recently I did our first interview with a photographer, the wonderful Zusha Goldin. The platform has opened up to creatives in all areas of arts, entertainment and creativity.
Growing And Changing
Now we are putting out more than a hundred articles a month, with a mix of interviews and articles, featuring both new and established creatives. We are so proud to see that everyone feels welcomed and wanted on The Table Read, no matter what stage of their career they’re at.
Our recent project has been to open up the Siren Stories YouTube channel with another branch of The Table Read. We are welcoming creatives to discuss their work in videos and reaching out to a new audience to experience and celebrate those projects with.
The growth of The Table Read has been incredibly exciting, and the positive response from both readers and contributors has been joyful. I’m excited to see what happens next, and where The Table Read grows to, and who we welcome into this world next, and I hope you’re excited to come with me.
